Survived renovations. But laptop died. Cannot go on. Impossible to read FF sitting up at desk. Must get new laptop. Even 10". 5'. sixe not important.

I just spent two hours reading in weepingcocks. I laughed so hard I had to close the bedroom door so as not to disturb the serious people in the rest of the house. Yes, sex is funny - and people who take themselves really seriously are very funny and bad writing is - divinely funny! Particularily bad PWP....

I spend half my reading time on fanfic and half on articles from the Slayage archives of Whedon studies - both of which are incredibly enriching in different ways, of course. The academic articles enhance my knowledge of culture, whereas the fanfic is more of a nature kind of thing...Strangely, the combination of the two fills my mind and my heart. Well, not that strange ...

I have humbly asked to friend Annie Sewell-Jennings, one of the very brilliant fanfic writers of all time - re-reading 'The Ballad of Randy and Joan' pushed me to this bold step. I hope she acquiesces...*sigh*

Just want to thank those at lj who accepted my friending. It not only means that I can read your wonderful writing, but really adds to my life. The whole concept of fanfiction is fascinating and wonderful to me. Taking the original creation out of its corporate context and making it truly ours is a deeply subversive and at the same time vastly creative act, which I am so happy to participate in, as a reader. An avid reader!
